Why I Started My Business
I started my business when I got retrenched in May 2020. This ‘’ event “ was probably one of the best things that happened to me because I “’threw myself out there’’ and pursued my dream of always wanting to be my own boss. Making candles is a lot of hard work and long hours (and challenging with all the current load shedding) but I love it because I can be myself and develop my unique brand/signature. Candle Making is very competitive and that’s why it’s important to stand out from the crowd and be recognised as having a lovely candle that someone wants in their home or as a gift for that special person to enjoy. I am a single Mom to a beautiful daughter of 27 years and she gave me the motivation and encouragement to start this amazing journey. Every day I feel excited because my business is growing from strength to strength and a massive contribution to this is my loyal and supportive customer base who keep on ordering my candles because they love them, so an immense THANK YOU goes out to these beautiful souls. I am very passionate about travel, art, food and animals as well as being a Vegetarian. I am home based in Radiokop (Roodepoort, Johannesburg) and make all the candles myself. I do everything from canvassing for new business, sourcing suppliers, buying the goods, melting the wax, pouring the wax etc. so I invest EVERYTHING into my candles; they are not mass produced by a machine. I love my own product and I always maintain that you shouldn’t even be selling a product that you don’t believe in yourself! I use only the best ingredients and I don’t want to produce a candle short of being classy. I exhibit my candles at many markets and I also supply candles for weddings, kitchen teas, birthdays etc. I really hope you will support my small business by purchasing a candle (or two 😊).
